COEN VERMEEREN
THREE MOTETS
for mixed choir
Difficulty: D
Price: € 6,75
Order number: 24038

Puer Natus and O Magnum Mysterium were written for an 8-part choir and Ave Maria for a 4-part choir and soprano. The “Three Motets” are Coen Vermeeren’s first compositions. They are written in a contemporary idiom, but clearly originate from the rich tradition of the Roman Catholic church music. As such, the three motets are a valuable and characteristic addition to the many existing choral compositions for Christmas. The works can be heard on the “Mysterium” CD and are performed by the gentlemen of Saints College Choir, Cambridge. The CD can be ordered at Intrada.

COEN VERMEEREN
MISERERE MEI
for mixed choir & strings ensemble
Difficulty: D-E
Price: Full score € 8,10
Order number: 25124

The well-known Miserere by Allegri and the miserere by Arvo Pärt were the inspiration for the composer: “Both pieces gave me ideas about form and colour.”

The drama and comfort of Psalm 51 are clearly expressed by the choir and string orchestra. The ritornello, which connects the five parts, becomes more and more exuberant and eventually returns to its origin.

Its first performance was during the Dutch Remembrance Day at the Grote Church in Breda on 4 May 2000.

BLAKE SONGS
Eight part-songs for mixed choir
Moeilijkheid: C-D
Prijs: 19,30
Bestelnummer: 24052

The poet, painter and engraver William Blake (1757 – 1827) was a typical misunderstood genius. He lived in poverty and obscurity, and only received recognition after his death. There were only a few short periods in which Blake could support himself by painting. Blake has never earned any money with his poetry. It was not until the second half of the twentieth century that Blake received the reputation of being Britain’s greatest poet since Shakespeare. With this publication, Intrada wants to stimulate several composers to show their vision of this prominent artist.

SEVEN CHRISTMAS CAROLS
for mixed choir, organ, brass quintet & timpani
Difficulty: B
Price: Vocal Score 19,30
Choral Score
9,05
Order number: 25066

Especially at Christmastime both singers and musicians perform together frequently.
This aspect prompted the idea to put together a collection of a variety of pleasant sounding arrangements.
This form was chosen with the idea of offering the performers a great number of possibilities, in accordance with the situation and instrumentation (including community singing).
The basic principle of the arranger was to arrange the carols for choir with the accompaniment of organ and/or a variable wind quintet. In the choral setting there is a frequent use of the tenor and/or baritone setting. The last verse has usually a descant setting. Most verses are also suitable for congregational use.

KURT BIKKEMBERGS
DA PACEM
for upper voices and three harmonica players
Difficulty: C
Price: € 6,75
Order number: 24027

In the spring of 2003 Kurt Bikkembergs was asked by the Europa Cantat to compose a work for the Sonbridge project.
A composer has to write a composition, but is coupled with a children’s or youth choir. They were asked to include a peace theme as well as the possible participation of the audience, a hymn. The composition consists of 3 parts. A prelude, a meditation and a hymn including the canon of Melchior Franck as an ad lib possibility for audience participation. The accompanying and contrasting musical instruments are 3 melodicas (2 sopranos and 1 alto), a familiar instrument among children and young people.

COEN VERMEEREN
FOURTEEN INTROITS
for Advent and Christmas for choir ATTBB
Difficulty: D
Price: € 13,60
Order number: 25125

Vermeeren composed the Introit motet Ex ore infantium in 1995. He wrote this work on the occasion of Mrs De Grauw’s birthday on 28 December, the Holy Innocents’ Day. He based it on the Gregorian Introit for that day, taken from the Graduale Romanum. Vermeeren liked the structure so much, that he decided to compose a complete cycle of 14 Introits for Advent and Christmas. This series ends with Ex ore infantium.

Each piece is written for five voices, on this occasion male voices only, with one voice singing the Gregorian melody.

 • MUSICA SACRA

Intrada has been able to realise, in close cooperation with musicologists of Bochum University, the publication of the never before published cantatas by J. Th. Roemhildt and G. H. Stoelzel. These unknown contemporaries of Johann Sebastian Bach wrote hundreds of cantatas, stored in libraries, which remained unknown and unpublished to this day. These three cantatas are high-quality baroque compositions, now made accessible to many church and other choirs by means of this unique publication.
