 A New Festival of Lessons and Carols
The Festival of Lessons and Carols keeps gaining popularity.
This accessible English service originates in the early 20th century. The Christmas story is told in nine established lessons from the Old and New Testament. These are alternated with carols, choral compositions with or without accompaniments, hymns and songs for community singing. Margryt Poortstra has written beautiful words for these compositions. There are also new arrangements of a number of well-known hymns in this publication.
A New Festival of Lessons and Carols is also available in an exclusively English(18) and Latin(3) version.

CANTICLES
for SATB and organ
The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, or Mary’s song of praise and Simeon’s song of praise, hold a special place in the field of sacred music. Particularly in evening services (Vespers) and at Christmastime. This practice is mainly found in the traditions of the British church music, in the so-called Evensong. But these songs of praise also have a prominent place in church concerts. We are able to offer you five of these compositions.
The compositions of Geke Bruining-Visser and Eric van der Kolk, which have been performed in Britain, are part of the British church music. They have both been written for SATB and organ, but for Geke Bruining-Visserís composition you also need a soprano and a tenor soloist to add lustre to the work.
The Magnificat of Jan de Jong provides you with a variety of accompaniments for organ, brass ensemble, brass band or wind band.

The Echoing Green
The British composer Richard Francis wrote, at the request of the Chamber choir Capella ’92 and their choirmaster Gerben van der Veen, a composition for choir and woodwind ensemble. It has become a dazzling work composed to the words of William Blake. It is melodious and reasonably easy for the choir, and pleasantly challenging for the woodwind ensemble. All in all a challenging composition and an asset to choral music.
This work can also be performed with piano accompaniment.
